Tamgroute pottery is the only rural pottery in Morocco to display green enamel. Its beautiful and surprising colors between dark green, and brown/ochre are obtained from an alloy of manganese also contained in kohl, copper oxide and barley flour.

To obtain the brown/ochre color, potters do not add copper.

Tamgroute’s enamel is distinguished by its quite heterogeneous colour. It is also distinguished from other pottery by its shapes, we find more than 50 different. There is the production of oil lamps (Kandil) used before the arrival of electricity in the Ksours. Some prestigious pieces such as dried fruit cups, for weddings, were decorated with engravings and stamped with Berber patterns.
